Why do I need all of these permissions on my Android device?

Smash Your Fitness is a motion-powered platform — your body is the controller. To make that possible, the app needs access to specific features on your device. Each permission serves a clear purpose:

📍 Motion & Location

  • Android uses the Location permission to allow apps to read data from motion sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, etc.).

  • This is how Smash detects your jumps, runs, cycling, rowing, or other movement in real time.

🔗 Bluetooth & Nearby Devices

  • Smash connects with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) devices like treadmills, bikes, rowers, ellipticals, and smartwatches.

  • The Nearby Devices permission is needed so the app can detect and pair with your fitness equipment or motion sensors.

🎤 Microphone

  • The microphone is used for voice commands.

  • Instead of pressing buttons, you can simply say “jump,” “slide,” or “left” to control your avatar.

📸 Camera (coming soon)

  • In upcoming updates, Smash will request camera access so you can:

    • Capture gameplay photos or clips

    • Share to social media directly from the app

    • Take part in UGC contests and challenges

Bottom line: Smash only asks for permissions that are necessary to make motion-powered gameplay work. Without them, the app wouldn’t be able to track your movement, connect to devices, or support voice commands. And soon, camera permissions will unlock easy social sharing too.
