What are the different types of Power-Ups?

There are two types of Power-Ups (PUs): 1) Regular Power-Ups and 2) Road Power-Ups.  And, there are also two types of Road Power-Ups: 1) Road Power-Ups and, 2) Power Assists.  Enable Sounds in Settings (Shift+Q > Sounds), and adjust your Power-Up volume to hear all the distinct Power-Ups sounds in game.  You will hear sounds when PUs are added to holding slots, deployed, when they deplete, when they are ignored, when road PUs are created, and captured road PUs.  Visual cues will also be seen when acquiring and deploying power-ups.

Regular Power-Ups: appear in power-up holding slots in the holding bar (belt) on the bottom right of the screen in game and are configured by the activity creator.  Not all activities will have power-ups. They have to be deployed either on a keyboard, keyboard-mimicking device, or our Companion App. Power-ups are configured by type, quantity, and length of duration. If a power-up is on permanently it is called an Ability and you will see an infinity symbol (∞) in the Duration (DUR) area of the Power-Up card image. An example of a power-up card with descriptions is at the bottom of this FAQ.  You will hear sounds and see visual cues that are distinct for regular power-ups.

Road Power-Ups: appear in the road and are configured by the activity creator. COMING SOON! Configurable Auto Activation for all road power-ups for a hands-free experience. This auto activation can be toggled on/off in your Settings (Shift+Q > Assists).

  • Road Power-Ups may appear in many different types of activities in game (Events, Rides, Smash Cups, Races,...) and are configured by the activity creator.  Just like regular power-ups, they have to be deployed either on a keyboard, keyboard-mimicking device, or our Companion App. You can only acquire Road Power-Ups if you have an empty power-up holding slot available. You will hear distinct sounds and see visual cues.
  • Power Assists help you to get back to the leader, spawn automatically, and are toggled on or off by the activity creator.  Not all activities have power assists but you may find them in Smash Cups or Races. They are different from road power-ups in that they are automatically spawned in the road if you get behind the leader about 5 seconds or more (and are not ghosted). You still have to run them over to capture them. You can only acquire Power Assists if you have an empty power-up holding slot available and, no Power Assists will be given the last 1km of an activity.  Power Assists are regenerated several seconds after one is acquired. You will hear distinct sounds and see visual cues.
