How do I get started in workouts?

What are Workouts?  Meant for physical riders:

  • They consist of timed segments, each with a specific targeted intensity.
  • You cannot crash at all.
  • Choose to toggle on/off Erg mode (smart trainer required; see the Erg mode FAQ for more information on how this works).
  • If you want and you are on a smart trainer, add your FTP in User icon > Profile for your training purposes.
  • For those wearing a Smashometer, workouts will be zone-based.  If you are using a smart trainer, it will be power-based.
  • The black line in the Workout Wheel on screen points to your target workout zone for that segment.
  • There is no Stamina Wheel or Brake Line Arrows in the road in a Workout so you can focus on your physical effort.
  • The first time you enter a Workout, you will be greeted with informational or interactive tutorials (How to do a work out, Exiting an activity). You can also revisit any tutorials on the Home Screen or under the Help "?" button in the upper right of most screens.

You will be presented with suggested workouts first, followed by a few options from which to choose.  Then, click More if you want to explore the hundreds of workouts we offer. From the Home Screen > Play Now > Workouts, then click Join on a workout tile and Join Ride. Either make a selection from the following choices:

  • the primary suggested workout (first workout you see, larger tile; suggested based on your preferences and/or history)
  • additional suggested workouts

Or, after you click the More button:

  • Favorites - your favorites that you have saved by clicking the heart icon in the bottom of the tile.
  • Use the sort and/or filter functions to further organize the workouts you feel like doing.
  • COMING SOON! Workout tiles/images will display a bar graph of zones & segments so you can choose a workout at-a-glance.
  • COMING SOON! My Creations - workouts you have created.
  • COMING SOON! Create New - try creating your own workout.

Some of our workouts are branded and have been developed by both professionals and cycling enthusiasts alike.  Search our FAQ named "Who is Coach Cy?" if you would like to use our personal virtual Coach to help you with a fitness plan.
