Can I switch from a monthly to an annual membership?

Yes, you can switch to a 12-month membership subscription directly from your in-game Profile (click on the User icon in upper right corner of most screens and choose Profile) and click on the Account tab along the top. Your new annual plan will begin once your current membership ends.
