The game has a free Companion App (CoApp) that allows users a keyboard-free experience. With the Companion App, you can steer, shift gears, brake, and deploy power-ups through the app. Users can also select activities and maps, deploy power-ups, and more! The Companion App is a webpage and not a standard downloadable app. This is so there is as little lag as possible and when you change lanes or deploy a power-up it is seen in game real time.
To use the Companion App:
- Launch the game on your computer.
- On the Pairing Wizard screen (under the Hamburger menu in the top left, if you are on the Home Screen), click the Next button and, in the Control Methods screen, choose Smartphone.
- On the Smartphone pop-up screen, there is a QR code; open the camera on your mobile device and aim it at the QR code. A message will appear on your mobile device to allow the companion app to open.
- Bookmark the app on your mobile device so you don't have to perform the QR code scan step each time.
- If you have any issues with the app not opening on your mobile device you may need to disable the firewall on your computer or phone and ensure that you have the latest update on your mobile device.
Once the Companion App is open, users can:
- Select and join maps or activities
- Select audio channels, change your volume, open your mic
- Steer - using the arrow buttons or by tilting the device
- Brake - using the brake button
- Use power-ups - up to five will be visible (scroll), tap to deploy
- Toggle Assist like Autopilot on or off
- Search FAQs, documents, and get help
